Windfall Theatre
Founded in 1992, Windfall Theatre is a non-profit professional theater company with a three-production season. Making its home in a studio performance space rented from Village Church Arts, Windfall brings its audience intensely intimate and alive theater. The company seeks our little known “gems” from well-known playwrights and has brought many critically acclaimed premiers to Milwaukee.
Windfall will present a 30th Anniversary production of Stephen Schwartz’s rarely performed gem The Baker’s Wife. It is a cult classic containing some of Schwartz’s most beautiful melodies. Based on the 1940 French film La Femme de Boulanger, The Baker’s Wife is permeated with the quiet sophistication of European cinema. Set in a small Provencal town in the late ‘30s, it’s a lyrical fable of life, love, longing, forgiveness and bread.
