I just got back from BIG the musical and was very disappointed. I remember liking the movie from the late 80s, and was looking forward to how they would adopt the story line for young children. On many levels, I felt that BIG the musical was inappropriate. From the portrayal of disrespectful teenagers, crazy mom, language of what you can do when you are big like "stay out late, drink and smoke" and "love" theme.... I was uncomfortable. Thankfully, I don't think my 7 year old got all the concepts shown, but really do believe the show was not appropriate for a 7 year old or 8 or 9 for that matter. I hope that First Stage can bring shows that are more "character building" to entertain our young ones.
